Wellness Whisperer Starter-pack/Toolkit/Road map

If you’re part of the International Baccalaureate (IB), it’s worth looking into their existing comprehensive wellness curriculum. They already have a well-established structure in both PYP (Grades 1-5) and MYP (Grades 6–8), with a strong focus on Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.

Because of this, we wanted to design our sessions in a way that complements their framework rather than overlaps it, making sure each activity ties back to ATL themes like self-management, social awareness, and critical thinking.

That said, if your school has a more open or developing wellness curriculum, there’s actually a lot of room to customise and shape it from the ground up. It may take more effort, but the freedom to innovate makes it a really exciting opportunity.

It’s time to get your plan on the floor! Take inspiration from our road map and improvise or add your own creative ideas. If you think they’re awesome, do share it with us and we’ll be happy to add them to this list too!

1. 5-8 Years Old (Early Elementary)

Focus: Basic healthy habits and choices, understanding their bodies, identifying basic emotions, talking about feelings to an adult, and becoming secure and confident children

EMOJI QUOTIENT

For younger kids, on how they are feeling... Let’s DRAW AN EMOJI (on the board or paper). What makes you feel like this? How can we make you feel better? When it is a positive emoji, they get to choose who they want to pass it on to.

BENEFITS: Helps build emotional awareness, openly express feelings, and develop empathy among peers.

Animal Farm

Animal Yoga poses/asanas for kids.
Introduces you to the age-old concepts of Yoga early on, improves flexibility, focus, and body awareness while making movement fun and engaging.

BENEFITS: Yoga is a sustainable life skill that boasts physical strength and mental clarity.

DANCE LIKE NOBODY'S WATCHING

Free style dance moves on the dance floor and when the music stops, they hug or high-five the person next to them.

BENEFITS: Promotes joyful movement, social bonding, and positive touch in a playful, inclusive way.

WEATHER CHECK

Compare your feelings to the weather. How are you feeling today? Each member of the group shares what their inner weather is like. Sunny (happy!), Rainy (sad or overwhelmed) Stormy (angry), Windy (agitated, mixed). Foggy (confused)? Create a chart, draw out your weather or say it aloud.

BENEFITS: Heavy feelings are easily visualized. Inner weather can become a personal check in method.

WHAT IS KINDNESS

Teaching individuals early in their life to understand and extend kindness.
Open the floor to asking what kindness looks and feels?
In the second step, discuss how it can be expressed.
- Help someone
- Give a compliment
- Share your food
- Exchange a smile

BENEFITS: Daily acts of kindness nurtures social-emotional learning, makes empathy actionable

9-13 Years Old
(Late Elementary/Middle School)

Focus: Body changes, mental health, peer pressure, exam stress, puberty, safety, vaping/smoking/drugs

MORNING ROUTINE

Get every individual in the group to enact their morning routine. Did they wake up on time, have a leisurely breakfast or rushed to get out of the house on time? This one will garner laughs and also encourage them to adopt discipline.

BENEFITS: When we share our routine, we recognise areas that need improvement. Also helps imbibe good habits by observing others.

‘POST IT‘ POWER

Use ‘post-its’ to say something nice about someone and paste them on their backs. When it is time to share, you need that person to read theirs out aloud to everyone. Change a backhanded activity to a rewarding truth.

BENEFITS: Boosts self-esteem and morale, encourages kindness, and strengthens peer relationships through shared appreciation.

MEDITATE TO MOTIVATE

Sprint meditation, or synchronised breathing, because the magic is immediate! Conduct rounds of one-minute meditations where the facilitator gives one affirmation, object, or word to focus on.

BENEFITS: Introduces mindfulness in an accessible way, helping kids build focus, emotional regulation, and a positive mindset without feeling overwhelmed.

DANCE WITH A TWIST

Fast-paced dance to slow moves, understanding how movement runs in your body, mind, and breathwork. Tests the fitness as well.

BENEFITS: Develops body awareness, improves coordination, and promotes mindfulness.

MIND THE MOVE

A memory and muscle game, where the first person does a dance move, and the next one has to remember the previous move and add his/her own move. By the end it becomes a choreographed routine!

BENEFITS: Enhances memory, coordination, creativity, and recall. It's a pleasant cardio boost as well.
